While the production of Annie Hall had an official costume designer, it was Diane Keaton who was in charge of Annie's wardrobe. Completely. The C.D. didn't like the look but Woody gave Diane carte blanche to bring that character to believable life. And what a style icon Diane Keaton was and still is. She stole the bowler hat from the set of The Godfather 2, army surplus from Kaufman's and basically raided menswear and a few choice Ralph Lauren pieces. The rest really is history - women everywhere were wearing ties, oversized khakis, vests. A pink cotton madras plaid tie with an embroidered Polo (which started out as menswear only) logo, it is pure Keaton-influence womenswear via menswear. Excellent condition. $60.00 |
