1970s Yves Saint Laurent Striped Cotton Dirndl

everyone's fave Yves Saint Laurent boasts some of the most fabulous women as muses; Betty Catroux, LouLou de la Falaise and Catherine Deneuve. Have you noticed the theme yet? These are no silly little fluffs masquerading as women but legitimate 'icons' that other intelligent women respect. Saint Laurent is perhaps the most important of all designers because he set so many standards which we still adhere to today. Paired with a vintage Koos van den Akker blouse or a modern Marc military jacket in washed denim, Yves' pieces move through your wardrobe with aplomb. A cotton peasant dirndl in a muted colorful weave - it runs from indigo to plum to goldenrod and is pierced by a bright turquiose braid trimming the ruffled tier near the hem. Side zip with a flat waistband and inseam pockets at each hip, Yves can taunt even the staunchest anti-vintage shopper to step back in time. Made for the Rive Gauche line, it has a 24" waist and is 26" long. Excellent condition. sold
