1980s Tortoiseshell Shibori Silk Chiffon Dress

chiffon done right One of the things that can turn an outfit that looks good from the front sour is the details that show on the back of the garment. A zip at the upper back is always tacky tacky but second only to the stack of labels sewn into the nape of a mid-priced sheer piece. Really, if a manufacturer is going to put their label into the neck of a chiffon dress, can they sew it so you can see what it says when you're standing behind the woman?? Unless, of course, nobody cares to read "Moda Int'l". True to form for a lovely silk piece, this has no label but smacks of 1980s Sign of the Wolf. Shibori-dyed chiffon that looks like tortoiseshell with its crazy-rich brown and black, this is bias cut like many dresses of the 1930s and has simple cap sleeves and a wide bateau neckline. Gorgeous over a brown charmeuse slip with metallic Brian Atwood heels, it will fit a modern 6 to very small 10 and is 44" in length. Excellent, if not flawless, condition. $410.00
