1960s Striped Seal and Leopard Coat

an offbest combination Did you ever stop to wonder how classic food combinations came to be so classic? Like how many cheeses did they pair with tomatoes before they realized that mozzarella was the perfect partner? Or who put oil together with vinegar for the first time? Fashion sometimes has its inspired moments and it doesn't always have a designer label to back up its genius - it just is. This seal and leopard coat is pieced so there are little shots of dotted leopard fur striping the coat in horizontal bands. The leopard fur is slightly longer than the seal and it gives it this great textural contrast that is far more complicated than a two-dimensional print. Double breasted and fastening with covered leather buttons, there is a silver-buckled belt to wear or not to wear - it looks great both ways. Unbelievably soft and funky without being too kitschy or thrift shoppy, this is just one of those young Raquel Welch moments that comes along once in a lifetime. Lined entirely in pink-y beige silk satin, the bust measures 36", shoulder to shoulder 16.5", outer sleeve 23.5" and length 46.5". Excellent condition. sold
