1950s Roger Van S. Red Leather Belt with Brass Buckle

matte red and glossy brass Accessories house Roger Van S. started out making very rustic leather belts and bags in the early 50s and graduated to vivd colored leather and tapestries in the early 70s. Always a little different than everyone else, their early belts will remind you of the Phelps pieces designed for Claire McCardell. Shown repeatedly in black in the Claire McCardell book, "Redefining Modernism", it goes with vintage and modern alike. Heavy red leather with a a polished brass buckle and tip that closes with double prongs and grommeted holes. Gorgeous with a Claire dress or over a tight black and white striped 50's sweater with black shantung capris. 2.25" wide, this will fit a 26" to 28" waist. Excellent condition. sold
