Forget design for a moment and let's talk about your body over the holidays. Chances are you're going to be eating - a lot. Oh, you may leave the house in a skintight Azzedine Alaia dress but somewhere between lavash smeared with baba ganoush and pumpkin Creme Brulee with caramelized pecans, that Alaia is going to become a tool of mockery! Why do that to yourself? A suit is the smart woman's answer to the holiday dinner dilemma. Four thirty - you're in the kitchen in the skirt and heels, wearing an apron over just a bra. Doorbell rings at 6? You're tossing on that velvet jacket faster than hot milk can scald and are effortlessly dressed. Now, back to design. Even if you're planning on starving yourself from now until February, this suit isn't going to lose any of its visual appeal. Woven with metallic gold thread, it comes off like black lace over a nude background but is absolutely opaque. Collarless neckline is piped in black silk satin along the placket, hem and wrists. Filligree buttons and double slim slash pockets over the right hip of the jacket add a very subtle finish. Made by Georges Rech in Paris, the bust measures 36", shoulder to shoulder 15.5", outer sleeve 23.5" and length 23". Skirt has a 26" waist, 36" hips and is 20.5" in length. Both are lined in black crepe and in excellent condition. sold |
