1970s Emilio Pucci Printed Silk Shirtdress

out of africa - not At one point in the 70s, nobody quite escaped the "Out of Africa" look. Whether it was Abercrombie and Fitch stuffed rhino ottomans in the office or a safari dress with lots of tiny pockets and epaulets, it was all the rage. And even Emilio Pucci dabbled in his Serengeti look, only his pieces were better to camouflage yourself in a hothouse full of orchids or a flock of flamingo than the colorless bush. Pale pale pink silk jersey has been printed with bubble gum-pink and fuchsia tribal designs. Pulling on over the head with a hidden side zip for easy getting in and out, it belts at the waist with a matching wrap sash punctuated by gilded metal tassles. Apron skirt is slit to the knee on both sides and the wing collar and V neckline say "Fifth Avenue" and not "pith helmet". To keep us from looking too butch, the blouson sleeves have little ties on the outside of the upper arm. Bust measures up to 38", shoulder to shoulder 14.5", outer sleeve 11.25", waist 27" and length 45". Flawless condition. $715.00
