When the embelished cardigan become popular in the mainstream in the 90s, we were so inundated with the things that we gleefully bid them adieu when they passed the baton to the next runner. Enough little bedazzled, sequinned, beaded and embroidered nothings. Needless to say we are not fond of the modern shrug which bears no bitchy-chic resemblance to the ones of the 1940s. Clothing cannot be decorative - it has to have a function because it is, after all, clothing. It can be pretty but it cannot be whimsical. Whimsical is probably one of the dumbest concepts evah! Now a little embroidery here and there is charming and pretty - solid sequins are downright fantastico and fur trim is wunderbar. A straightforward ivory wool and acrylic blend cardigan with big yarn flowers on either side of the button placket. Pink, mauve, lilac and sage blossoms flanked by rows of popcorn knots and cables. Cuffed sleeves, we love this with a Built by Wendy skirt and flat Chie Mihara sandals. Bust measures 36", shoulder to shoulder 16", outer sleeve 23.5" and length 21". Excellent condition. sold |
