The Asians knew how special silk was long before the Europeans took over as the fashion cognoscenti of the world. With the ability to float like a spider's web and hold colors like a prism, silk is a deceptively strong fiber, really lending itself well to womens' clothing. What seems fragile is not really and what is soft is also thoroughly resilient. A stunning pistachio green, deep lavender and pink silk hand-dyed chiffon is edged in the same dyed silk crepe de chine, creating a contrast of matte sheerness and glossy opacity that is wonderful. A slim column of sleeveless lime silk crepe de chine is layered with two oblong sleeves that are like attached scarves hanging over each shoulder, letting the arm move freely underneath their canopy. Square neckline and small side slit on the right side, this was made by Jean Hercey, Paris. Gorgeous with silver Bottega sandals and a Martin Margiela pointe shoe handbag, this would lovely as an offbeat wedding dress with a bouquet of orchids. Bust measures 36", hips 36" and length 54". Excellent condition. $605.00 |
