Body lotion serves a scientific function but it's also a psychological indulgence that is meant to conjure thoughts of having really great silk lingerie against bare skin. Sit down and read the Bliss Spa catalog and tell us if you think all those creams and ointments are meant to merely combat dry skin. Ha! That tube of Chantecaille Body Treatment probably won't do more for you, technicallly, than Vaseline Intensive Care but damn if it doesn't feeeeeel and smell a whole lot better. The same cannot be said for luscious lingerie. Target cotton thongs and vintage silk gowns will never be in the same league and the Target skivvies will never do for you what the silk can. Sorry. Never. You'd be hard pressed to find modern silk lingerie that can do it the same way but hey, you can sure have fun trying. Peach silk charmeuse with a finely re-embroidered French lace bodice that closes with tiny silk covered buttons. Deep V back with X straps, the hem is bias cut so the whole thing clings to you like that Chantecaille lotion and then sweeps out at the floor. Slinky, sexy and totally wonderful.
