1970s Ossie Clark Embroidered Black Moss Crepe Dress

so beloved A girl can learn a lot about not just what to wear but how to wear it from studying Ossie Clark's work. A fabulous fashion show scene from David Hockney's early 70's film "A Bigger Splash" shows Ossie Clark sending his models down the runway styled in surprising ways. Ossie had a unique philosophy about clothing and its relation to a woman's body and what made his long dresses so sexy is that they flashed just the right amount of skin in just the right places. Forbidding his clients to wear uinderwear, you were supposed to don his dresses over nothing but your birthday suit - no panties, no pasties and no pretense. A black moss crepe gown with a scalloped placket of tiny embroidered flowers in pale cream and green with more flowers along the tops of the shoulders. A single black satin ribbon at the neckline allows you to change the exposure with just a pull and we have shown it styled as Ossie would with the ribbon crossed and tied at the beck of the neck like a choker. You can also leave it untied or in a simple bow in the hollow of the throat. Fitted through the bust, waist and hips, it has his signature full sleeves that are tight at the wrist. Made for Radley, the bust measures 34", shoulder to shoulder 15", outer sleeve 26" and length 60". Ideally suited for a modern 8 or maybe a very tiny 10. Excellent condition. sold
