Since we started enokiworld, we have seen contemporary fashion trends wave their influential wand over the vintage world. An old designer's popularity will ebb and flow according to what a house like Prada or Balenciaga is sending down the runway. But for the women who love what they love and don't care what's "in", this is not going to matter much. Labels like Bonnie Cashin and Ossie Clark, while vastly different in look and philosophy, sort of endure all the instability with which the business comes. Even if you see a fantastic Miu Miu coat that is modelled turnlock for turnlock after a Sills coat, the Cashin coat will remain stylish long after the Miu Miu becomes quickly passé. Same for Ossie Clark. So married to rock and roll history was/is Ossie, that really no other designer has as much cool credibility as his name does. Thanks to wife Celia Birtwell, his designs are sexy without being vulgar - they flatter so many body types. Customizable to the nth degree, his back tie dresses are soft, feminine and chic. Signature moss crepe in cream with a wide collar and gathered yoke, the placket buttons with a row of tightly spaced covered buttons and loops. Wide sleeves that come in close at the wrist with buttoned cuffs, the waist sashes on either side are long enough to be criss crossed and tied in front or bowed in the back. Made for Radley, the bust measures up to 38", shoulder to shoulder 15.5", outer sleeve 25" and length 54.5". Excellent condition. sold |
