Mario Valentino is not the same designer as Valentino Garavani, simply known as Valentino, but the son of a shoemaker who formed the company in the early 50s. By the time the 80s rolled around, the company was making oddball leather and suede clothing that was a little Ziggy Stardust meets Madison Avenue and the name became really well known. A Joan Crawford inspired "swing" jacket of fluid black suede with sapphire blue sleeves that looks best with a long Romeo Gigli skirt and a simple silk pullover. Collarless, the draping falls from the yoke in swirls around your hips and the jacket buttons with a row of oversized glossy black buttons. Zippers at each wrist for a slim sleeve, it is lined in black rayon satin. Bust measures up to 40", shoulder to padded shoulder 16.5", outer sleeve 24.5" and length 30". Excellent condition. $195.00 |
