1980s Louis Vuitton Small Body Bag

the french company Many great accessory houses made bags for posh American department stores like Saks, Bloomingdale's (yes, Bloomies used to be quite nice back in the day) and Bonwit Teller. Gucci made bags for Saks and Louis Vuitton did too. Made for us, the designs were much more in tune with the shape and size that we liked but some are still impossibly French in attitude. A small cross body bag that is Parisian to a fault over a Helmut Lang jean jacket but under an oversized Jean Charles de Castelbajac blanket coat (talk about layering), the classic Louis Vuitton logo is recognizable to anyone who walks upright on two legs, even men with mullets who install roofing. Trimmed in whiskey leather with a long shoulder strap that joins the body of the bag on front and back, it is lined in whiskey leather. Grommeted holes allow the strap to be shortened and the size is small and chic which is such a refreshing change to hauling around a bag that is the size of a four-year-old child. Signed "Louis Vuitton, made in USA" - this is the hallmark of what is now known as The French Company. 8.5" wide by 5" high and 2" deep with a single 22" maximum length strap with sliding leather shoulder pad. Excellent condition with the exception of some tiny marks on the interior bottom corners. sold
