1980s Japanese Black Linen Kimono Coat

high style on the down low

highly representative of the designer and just plain old fabulous

Look! In the street! It's a kimono! It's a coat! It's faaaaabulous! A twist on the classic kimono in waxed black tissue linen with extra long arms and slits to the knee on both sides. Subtle indigo pleated panels along the back of the collar and placket, it fastens under the arm with two ties (and an internal one for the right, modest fit) and again at the hip with a small knot and loop closure. A natural with Comme des Garcons and Atsuro Tayama but also very hip with vintage Alaia and Stephen Sprouse. Sized for a tall (women under 5'7" could possibly cuff the sleeves in one wide fold) modern 10 or 12, it is 59" long. Excellent condition - a piece that is phenomenal in person. sold
