Tina Leser's childhood travels across the globe left her with a lifelong fascination, and understanding, of ethnic textiles. Using Indian fabrics until her retirement in the 70s, she was the first to combine rough-and-tumble textiles with refined elements from the Far East like 14-karat gold and tiny mirrors. In this baby pink corduroy skirt, she trimmed the waist in ornate handwoven gold braid and studded the printed mendhi designs with daisy-wheel paillettes in bronze, surrounded by bronze glass beads on the front side of the skirt so the back is just mendhi on pink. Not quite a full circle, it is about 3/4 and falls in gentle gathers. Side pockets trimmed in gold and a starched backing that gives the skirt tons of body without having to wear a crinoline. We love this with a simple black cashmere tee and black Chanel ballerina flats. Waist 26", length 31". Flawless condition. $410.00 |
