Ralph Lauren was really great in the 70s. Not over the top or outrageous, he took the Old West and brought it right smack into the middle of Manhattan. Ruffled denim skirts and Hopi accessories, he made Americana stylish. A printed rayon paisley bandanna print dirndl that feels as yummy as having a sari wrapped around you and is perfect with a Perry Ellis linen blouse of the same vintage.
