1970s Kenzo Crouching Tiger Print Elongated Tunic

gleeful kenzo Long before fusion became the favored style of haute cuisine, the Japanese were doing it with clothing in the 70s. If Issey Miyake is the intense sculptor, devoting himself to his art in the studio with all the patience of a monk, then Kenzo Takada is a mischievous schoolboy, playing in the courtyard below - laughing and bouncing his shiny red ball much to the master's dismay in the studio above. Kenzo not only fused Japanese and French fashion but he imbibes his clothing with a spirit that is electric and energizing. This caramel on brown printed cotton elongated tunic has crounching tigers ready to pounce front and back. Slit to the waist on both sides, the neckline is a three-button V and the sleeves are to right past the elbow. What we think is that you should go to your local sari shop and buy a gold-embroidered yellow silk dupatta and use it as a wide cummerbund to wrap around your waist and hips under the tunic. Then while you're there you can pick up a pair of cropped raw silk pyjama pants to wear as bottoms (but jeans are not going to ruin this look either). The flash of shiny silk under the matte cotton would be fabulous and would really set off Kenzo's marvelous construction in an unconventional way. Designed for the Kenzo "Jap" label, which is a work of art and one of the best-looking labels ever. Bust measures 36", shoulder to shoulder 15", outer sleeve 18" and length 46.5". Flawless condition. $320.00
