Jean-Charles de Castelbajac walks the fine line between down and dirty and urban French sophistication like no other. From the fringed wool coat vibe to the paint-splattered down jackets, Castelbajac is highly original and always has been. He is so original, in fact, that he is also one of the most ripped-off designers in fashion history only his production is all in-house so his clothing is not widely avaialable, leaving him exposed to only the fashion cognoscenti. That's right - this man is like the kind of potato chips you buy that tout themselves as "still cooked in small batches by hand". Everyone from our beloved Martin Margiela to Karl Lagerfeld finds inspiration from Castelbajac collections but there is an energy in the real thing that is lacking in the spin-offs. A sage cotton faille cloak that becomes a part of each individual woman that tries it on, it is distinctive yet completely malleable. With a single tab and hook closure in the hollow of the throat, this comes off like a caped coat from the front but a cocoon from the view behind. Full, swingy and chic as hell, this looks great with everything from Issey Miyake separates to modern Alice Roi. Integral pockets along the outer seam of the armholes and a brushed face on the interior, this was designed for Ko and Co. Sized for a modern 8 to small 12, it is 49" long and the cloaked arms come down to the wrist. We also recommend that you be at least 5'5" to keep you from looking like Cousin It in this. Excellent condition. $645.00 |
