1980s Jean-Charles de Castelbajac Wool Blanket Coat

they way they hang on the body is fabulous

an enokiworld fave is more than good looking but also highly representative of the designer who made it

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is one of the most copied designers yet one of the least known to mainstream America, which enables other French designers to rip him off unbeknownst to us here in the States. "Oooh, look at that fringed wool coat! How original" - Not! "Oooooh, I love those Coco Chanel cartoon sweaters!". Rip off city. There is an energy in every piece of his that comes only from doing something that you feel passionately about. His signature wool and mohair blanket coat, with fringed trim and an oversized silhouette that is so typical of his distinctive French style. Soft lime and plummy brown buffalo check has a stand-up band collar and dramatic placket that draped back on itself. Long, wide sleeves that almost any size will want to turn back, it has inseam pockets at both hips. Paired with a tiny Alaia dress underneath to really play up the proportions, the stockinged leg peeking out from the hem will make it as sexy as the designer intended. Sized for a modern 10 to a small 14, this is 49.5" long and in excellent condition. $1650.00
