1950s Roger Van S. Leather Belt with Gold Flies

buzz buzz buzz Roger Van S was such a great label and the lack of biographical info on the designer makes it even more desirable. Who the hell wants to collect bags by an overexposed designer who comes off like an idiot (we won't mention any names)? People like mystery - they like to believe what they want to believe and Roger Van S lets us all do that. Maybe it's the vintage version of Martin Margiela who won't allow the press to photograph him and only gives interviews by fax. Maybe it isn't a real person at all? Maybe he was a man who lives in a cave house like Salvador Dali's and snorted caviar from a long gold pinkie nail. Maybe Roger Van S only slept with transvestite hookers and liked to wear women's underwear. Maybe Roger Van S was a normal guy who worked in the garment district of New York and went home to his wife and kids for dinner and rode a bike in Central Park on the weekend. The label was edgy and it was well made. And it holds its edge today. A black leather belt that buckles in back, adorned with white trail stitching and gilded flies. Amazing, this is so good that we think the dress should be simple but we'll allow for an over-the-top armful of sickly expensive bracelets.1.75" wide, this will fit a 27.5" to 29' waist. Excellent condition. sold
