Holly Harp's work shifted away from the Gatsby look that marked her collections in the 70s, to a more intense style that was almost like a microscopic view of the petals of a flower, up until her death in 1995. But what you will always find with Holly's pieces is that really soft, organic vibe - even when she's going for full drama. An abstract printed red-on-red silk charmeuse top and skirt with long matching sash. Tiered with undulating, wavy hems, the shoulders on the blouse are rolled and backed with tulle so they have an Edwardian silhouette but the whole thing is absolutely modern, even now. The uppermost layer of the blouse can be tucked under the sash or left over it and the uneven hem of the skirt echoes each curve above it. A study in contrasts of every kind, it is soft yet aggressive. Lightweight yet commanding and vintage while being au courant.
