1970s Halston Silk Chiffon Dress with Iridescent Sequins

halston was hollywood's first designer Long before Donatella Versace would sit, wedged between Jennifer Lopez and Madonna, there was Halston - the original celebrity designer. Through no design of his own, Halston, the man, became as visible as his clothing in a day when designers were always very much behind the scenes. The vintage world falls in and out of love with Halston as quickly as the weather changes but fickle as all may be, Halston's clothing has always been, and always will be, completely wearable and sexy. Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of Michael Kors through his 2002 Spring collections, Halston is about to be au courant all over again. Ironic perhaps but what it comes down to is you and your feelings about clothing. Halston tried to always have several sequin dresses in each collection, starting in the late 70s. Some are pastel and some are as black as the night sky, corresponding to the season and the style. A beautiful balance of sheer silk chiffon and a waterfall of iridescent blue/purple sequins spilling from the jewel neckline. With a matching chiffon slip underneath, it has billowing sleeves that gather at the wrist and are ringed in a single row of sequins, echoing the glint again at the hem. Lovely with Alain Tondowski purple satin slings and a small shantung clutch. Bust 34", shoulder to shoulder 16", outer sleeve 22", hips up to 40" and length 45". Excellent condition. sold
