We're always fascinated with watching the new collections for the upcoming seasons - vintage is not really so different from modern and we don't care when good clothes were made - great design is great design. Like for fall, Michael Kors is doing his forever-wearable stuff but he's showing his separates with slouched down suede boots and wool leg warmers. Leg warmers? Who would have thought it could work but it does. A lot of times, the little things that keep you from looking dated in vintage are just like that; modern accessories with a vintage dress or switch it around - a vintage Claire McCardell skirt with a modern Paul Smith jacket or a pair of Martin Margiela wool trousers with vintage men's boots from the 40s and a white tee from the five-and-dime. So we have those Kors boots and leg warmers in mind for this Gucci wool challis two-piece. Printed with maple leaves in silhouette on a deep olive background, the bodice has a pleated silk yoke and high collar that is very Elizabethan. Each sleeve is slit along the outside and set with accordion-pleated black silk panels. Full dirndl has inverted box pleats all the way around and hidden pockets at both hips. And add those brown suede boots with cable-knit leg warmers? You're not vintage - you're just fabulous! Unlined, the bust measures up to 38", shoulder to shoulder 16", outer sleeve 24.5" and length 27". Skirt has a 28" waist and is 33.5" long. Both are in excellent, if not flawless, condition. $410.00 |
