Once again, you can blame mainstream fashion for ruining a perfectly good concept. What was once "peasant" meant traditional - and simple - clothes unique to each country from which they came. The yarn-embellished gauze tops of Mexico, the mole of Guatemala, the dirndl skirts of Germany and the luscious little Greek blouses of white silk georgette are all spectacular vintage treasures that have nothing to do with the triple-tiered hippie skirts you could buy by the truckload at mall stores. Made for the people, by the people, there is no hokey tourist twist to stuff like this, it's good honest clothing. Always great with faded Levi's and thongs or with Jovovich Hawk shorts and Elgim-dried hair, this Greek blouse has pale blue silk stitching and smocking. Slips over the neck with very delicate ties with an additional hidden snap closure at the side of the waist, the bust measures up to 36" and length 17". Excellent condition. sold |
