1970s Gil Aimbez Reversible Quilted Coat

straight up gil

an enokiworld fave is more than good looking but also highly representative of the designer who made it

Plain can be good. Really good. Think sugar cookie. Think wedding band. Think Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Think Gil Aimbez. An old school designer who understood the appeal of completely straight-up design in fabrics that were a little off kilter. His fabulous padded black coat for Genre that goes from quilted to plain in a flip. Overlapping collar that stands back away from the face like makeshift wings and a long leather-buckled belt with holes that is meant to be tied instead. Big pockets, matte finish and just a cozy feel without being too homey - you know what we mean? To wear with an Acne dress and Rachel Comey boots, this is just the style of clothing that appeals to the smarts in all of us. Since the coat wraps with no closures aside from the belt, it would fit from a 6 to small 10. Bust from 36" to 40", shoulder to shoulder 16.5", outer sleeve 25" and length 46". Excellent condition. sold
