The style of London in the early 1970s is just the sort of thing that could be seen as California now. Faded Levi's button-fly with blown-out knees (that you blew out yourself because you've worn the same size since you were 19) and an artisan coat with a plain American Apparel heather grey ribbed tank. Shoes? Ha ha - you drive barefoot. Bill Gibb's Art Nouveau-patterned knitted coat in pale, icy blue and peach with bands of taupe, pistachio, navy and pink. The yarn is a very fine synthetic boucle so there is subtle texture and a nice spring in the hand. Wide kimono sleeves and a dropped drawstring waist meant to be pulled up and tied, there are pockets at both hipbones. Sized for someone tall, it is literally 48" long so really not suited for someone shorter than 5'6". Made in Lodnon, it is in excellent condition. sold |
