1970s Galanos Peach and Silver Wool Check Coat

precision precision precision Throughout his career, James Galanos has gone from Anne Fogarty paper doll silhouettes to Madame Gres' draped waterfalls but his attention to precise detail is the running thread through each and every one of his collections since the 1950s. A meticulous tailor, Galanos' clothing is never sloppy or carefree but rather simple and - well, perfect. Similar to Norman Norell, Galanos is tiny bit more playful than Norell but conveys perfection all the same. A wonderful peach and silver wool coat with silk woven in for softrness and shine. Pleated at the shoulder and again at the button wrists, there is a half belt that sprouts from both sides of the waist, to tie in front in a loose knot. Fastens along the placket with grey mother of pearl buttons set in stainless bezels, you will find these buttons again at the pleated patch pockets over both hips. Intentionally unlined, this coat is body conscious but not constricting. Bust measures 38", shoulders15.5", outer sleeve 22.5 and length 43.5". Excellent condition. $795.00
