For women who had money in the 60s, there were certain design firms that were adored for their carefully constructed clothing. While there were designers who enjoyed fame, those days were more about the company than the person's name - celebrity status had not yet become the only way to gauge a designer's merits, as it is now. Ben Reig, Originala, Monte-Sano & Pruzan and Davidow were all known for suits and coats that were always wonderful. In fact, some of the most treasured pieces in our own closets come from these four biggies. Davidow, while not being headed by any one "name" was just as respected, and expensive, as a designer piece and frequently superior in quality. A fabulous ivory and navy Irish wool tweed suit with a slim skirt and singlebreasted jacket, trimmed with polished gold dome buttons. The construction is flawless, from the, slightly forward of the hip, pockets on the skirt to the contrasting placket on the jacket. Both pieces are lined in snow white silk crepe. Bust measures 36", shoulder to shoulder 16", outer sleeve 21.5" and length 22.5". Skirt has a 27" waist, 38" hips and is 26.5" long. Both pieces are in excellent, if not flawless, condition. sold
