Chester Weinberg was a happy designer - making clothes that showed a boyish glee for his craft and the women who wore his clothes. In the early 70s, some of his best pieces were great contrasts of black and bold color, like this quilted lemon yellow silk taffeta jacket. Originally created to be worn over a floor-length black jersey tank dress, he used grass green and this cheeerful hue that season to bring black up to buoyant. Flared at the hem, the quilted yoke has an extended rounded collar to be worn up at the nape or laying flat on top of the shoulder and it fastens at the upper chest with two round black shiny buttons. Quilted again at the cuffs with a single black button over each wristbone, it is lined in lemon silk crepe. Bust measures up to 38", shoulder to shoulder 15.5", outer sleeve 23" and length 23.5". Excellent condition. $410.00 |
