1980s Chanel Black Wool Boucle Suit

a piece that never goes out of style The pas de deux between Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld is what keeps Chanel the ultimate status symbol it is today. We have seen many a vintage designer's reputation ruined when the company hires a new creative director that well, sucks. Without Coco, the name would mean nothing, as she was one of the most powerful innovators in all of modern fashion. But without Karl, Chanel would be a stuffy old label. And so brilliant he is, keeping the most outrageous of Coco's signatures and making them almost a loving parody of her career - the massive logo earrings, the classic cardigan suit paired with shorts or hot pants. So without the great KL, Chanel would not be Chanel and that is what makes the 80's pieces so meaningful. An iconic lightweight black wool boucle suit trimmed in satin pleated ribbon with opposing C buttons in gold at the placket, pocket and wrist. Paired with a black crepe skirt that has a pleated apron in front with slits to the knee on either side, the boucle has a subtle horizontal black stripe running through it. Lined in black silk with a gilded chain at the hem, the jacket is gorgeous alone with jeans and high Michel Perry boots in electric blue leather. Sort of a French schoolgirl vibe, this is not the time to mix it up with pieces from Top Shop. This is a French size 40 and since it dates to the mid/late 80s, we find the size to be true so if you are a healthy modern 10 or very small 12, this is ideal for you. Flawless condition. sold
