1960s Chanel Wool Tweed Suit

ay yi yi the colors The actual designer, Gabrielle Chanel, is about as far removed from the label's name as Dior is to theirs. What most people who don't travel in vintage (or expensive, for that matter) circles know about Chanel is makeup, fragrance, sunglasses and tiny little quilted leather handbags. Maybe that's because those are the things that will be affordable to the majority of women who want to impress people with their pretentious display of logos. The rest of us will think of Chanel for just what she was - a ballsy French bitch who made clothes that were wearable, iconic and fresh. Chanel is not about bling - Chanel is about quality and the two are definitely not synonymous. A classic Chanel wool and silk suit in gorgeous apricot tweed with undertones of plum, emerald green and brown. Lined in navy silk crepe de chine, the jacket is piped in silk around the low patch pockets. The skirt is ringed with four sets of inverted pleats so it has great enthusiasm in motion. Love it with a simple pale yellow silk blouse and vintage Roger Vivier cream patent pumps. Signature buried chain to weigh the jacket hem, it closes with a row of navy-edged starburst buttons. Bust measures 36", shoulder to shoulder 15", outer sleeve 21" and length 22.5". Skirt has a 31" waist, 40" hips and is 23" long. Both are in excellent condition. $4200.00
