1960s Bonnie Cashin Russet Plaid Boucle Car Coat

custom knit for bonnie Part of the uniquity of Bonnie Cashin's work was her artisanally produced textiles. Never one to pick from a mainstream cache of textiles available to any designer, Cashin's colors were her own and the color combinations unique to Sills. Bonnie Cashin and Philip Sills were known to bicker like brother and sister which seemed to have worked for them because these were the years that produced some of her best designs. A gorgeous russet plaid boucle weave car coat in warm shades of marigold, tangerine, black, sage and tobacco - all trimmed in mushroom leather with signature turnlock closures. "Locking" each deep patch pocket over the hip, they also batten down the placket. Unlined, this is a midweight coat that is not stiff or restrictive and wears well when you're raking leaves just as it looks stylish when you're choosing giant pumpkins for Halloween. Made for Sills, the bust measures up to 44", shoulder to shoulder 17", outer sleeve 23" and length 37". Excellent condition. sold
