The idea of matching is an interesting one but can look really dated when you're talking abut shoes and a purse. Or lipstick and nail polish. How about matching proportions? You know, it's called "balance". Bonnie Cashin designed many a coat with abbreviated sleeves, like many other designers in the 50s and 60s, but she also made accessories that balanced out a cropped sleeve, like elongated gloves for Crescendoe that matched elongated bags she had designed for Coach. Bonnie's world all came together this way and no other craftsperson was really thinking in such a total way as Cashin did. Had she had more time and the right manufacturer, shoes would have been a huge part of her collections. A long pink glove bag to pair with a ballet length-sleeved coat in baby blue boucle and cropped white Future Classics pants. Suspended from a gilded frame with a skinny chain handle, it measures 5.75" wide by 11.25" high with a 5.25" handle. Made for Coach, this is lined in signature Mexican striped cotton. Excellent condition with the exception of one little nick in the lower right corner. $335.00 |
