Thanks to the efforts of designers like Michael Hoban and Bonnie Cashin, leather is not the renegade choice for outerwear anymore. Everyone from Aunt Josephine in Winnetka to Lindsey Lohan sports a leather jacket only Aunt Jo wears hers with orthopedic sneakers and jeans that have a built-in wedgie. But not all leather jackets are made alike and different colors and cuts are out there to tell the world about what kind of style you really have. Black leather blazer? Ehhh, maybe if you're Angelina Jolie but the rest of us would do better in something more feminine. And wearing leather with jeans? That's just not good enough. We love a vintage Bonnie Cashin jacket with a Marni skirt - all so girly and yet unexpected. Bonnie's mushroom (sauteed in butter, please) version with a band collar and signature turnlock closures. Inimitable Cashin, it flares a little at the hem. Lined in cafe au lait crepe, there are deep pockets on each side and was made for Sills. Ideally sized a modern 6 or 8 with 24" sleeves and a length of 27". Excellent condition. sold |
