1970s Bonnie Cashin for Coach Navy Saddle Bag

early coach If you think vintage Coach and modern Coach are pretty much the same, think again. The leather on modern Coach bags is a lot thicker - like the skin on your heels. Hey, if you walk on hot coals for a living - or, say, crushed glass, thick skin is a good thing but it doesn't make for a very graceful bag. We like to think it had something to do with the exacting standards Bonnie Cashin demanded because we all know Cashin took a baseball glove company and turned it into a serious accessories house. Navy front flap design is one of the most distinctive vintage Coach designs - designed by Ms. Cashin herself before the company started giving her equal billing. Buckles facing forward, above the body of the bag, and a dual compartmented interior - this is unlined and bears the tiny black metal Coach tag (the right tag if you're looking for the right vintage). Measures 10.75" wide by 10.5" high with a single adjustable 10.5" to 17" strap. Excellent condition. $410.00
and you can sling it high across your chest
