1970s Bonnie Cashin Belted Orange Leather Tunic

we love the way she thought Culling inspiration from a never ending fount of cultural and natural objects; bird's nests, saris, ponchos, civara, industrial hardware, etc., Bonnie Cashin made fashion supremely intelligent with her practical approach to design. Proving that mechanic's coveralls need not be your uniform if you're aiming for style AND comfort, Cashin's approach is more needed today than when she was alive. As an antidote to sweatpants and sneakers, where are all the modern clothes that are not made for gyms? Are we really expected to walk around all day in 4" stilettos? The sad part is, we buy into it. They might be sexy but those high heels are not for young mothers and women who stand on their feet all day. They are not for women who live in the city and actually like to walk downtown. And jeans with a 6" rise don't feel great or perform well if you have to bend over. Hello whale tail, check out my muffin top! Give us layers - give us pieces that we can put together in our own way that smack of individuality and self-confidence. Stuff that feels good and looks smart and doesn't have to be put back in place every time we stand up or sit down. Give us more more more more Bonnie Cashin. A splendid orange leather tunic that crosses over and snaps inside, then fastens with a wide leather sash ending in a gilded double D-ring buckle. V neck, decorative welted seams and big, deep pockets with an orange silk crepe lining. Killer with a vintage Rudi Gernreich wool shirtdress and Keds skimmers, this was made for Sills. Sized to fit a healthy modern 6 to small 10, it is 34" long. Excellent condition wtih the exception of some minor soiling along the very top edge of the belt. sold
