Pierre Cardin was the first designer to really know how to use the licensing vehicle and he used it well. Some of his own things, like the high-end clothing and jewelry, are absolutely astounding - prototypes of designs to follow from a host of young designers. With an eye for mod details but a background firmly rooted in French construction and attention to detail, he is not one to be underestimated. A black and white op art silk gown with a chiffon skirt of two layers and a black Empire bodice. The sleeves are slim through the upper arm and flare dramatically at the wrist. The sheer nature of the chiffon makes you see the underlayer of the same printed fabric through the skirt so there are always shadows of big paisley swirls moving. Bust measures 36", shoulder to shoulder 14.75", outer sleeve 22.5" and length 52". Excellent condition. $705.00 |
