1960s Calvin Klein Wool Trench Coat

the young calvin Calvin Klein is not a name you normally associate with 60's fashion but that is precisely when the very young Klein got his start. Starting his own company at the age of 25, he spent about 4 years working for other companies before starting his own label. He never went through phases before settling into his own style - he was totally Calvin (or was it Zack Carr?) from the beginning. His sexy tailored clothing drew inspiration from Saint Laurent's smoking suits but Calvin was better equipped for his young audience as he was one of us. He solidified the mainstream American sportswear look, which had foundered since Claire McCardell passed away. Designers like Rudi Gernreich and Bonnie Cashin were both practical but they never had the mass appeal that Calvin has always had. A woven wool coat in camel with lowlights of charcoal with traditional gun flaps at the shoulder and decorative epaulets. Belted wrists and back yoke with a split to the back of the knee for mobility, it's a smart staple that will go with everything - year after year. Long and lean, this should hit at the bottom of the calf. Lined in camel crepe, the bust measures 40", shoulder to shoulder 16.5", outer sleeve 23.5" and lngth 49", it is in excellent condition. $495.00
