1970s Stephen Burrows Terry Dress with Hooded Cowl

they hardly ever get more fabulous Another example of just how freaking modern an 'old school' designer can be. We're talking about the man, not just the dress. Stephen Burrows had the most deliciously progressive and sexy feel for design as a young lad just starting out in the 60s and 70s. And his clean aesthetic has made him popular once again for good reason; his stuff is so damn easy to wear. He, like Gernreich before him, has a dancer's sensibility. This ankle-length grey terry dress is what you'd get if Bonnie Cashin had ever decided to make anything sexy (which she really didn't). It's practical for a woman who has a killer body and feels good about it from any angle, any position. The kind of freedom you have when your body is a non-issue. No camouflage. No constant adjusitng of gathered waist and tucked hems. No pinched plackets that leave visible gaps between buttons that expose your bra in all the wrong ways. Simple. Stylish. Modern. Young. Hip. Burrows. Fitted through the entire body with skinny sleeves ending in 6.5" cuffs and a very long turtleneck that comes over the head as a hood if that's the way you want to wear it, the skirt flares at the hem. Pulls over the head, it looks fantastic as is or belted with a wide corselette in black leather. Bust measures 32" or 34", shoulder to shoulder 16", outer sleeve 24" and length 58". Excellent condition - a superb dress. sold
