1970s Bill Blass Red Wool Sweater Suit with Blouse

blass does the flapper Bill Blass' collections for 1973 and 1974 were very retro as were the collections of many other designers. From Ossie Clark to Sonia Rykiel, it seemed everyone was sampling the past in much of the same ways as designers are nowadays. But Blass shined when he recreated the 1920s. The long, knit suits with belts were all so English countryside but modern in the way they clung to every single curve. Bright maraschino cherry red wool cardigan is wide ribbed and buttons down to the hem with dropped patch pockets over a tight, knit skirt. Underneath, a ruffled silk crepe blouse with long neck ties and over, a red leather belt. Gorgeous with tan linen oxfords with slight heels in that Gatsby sort of way. Shown with photo from the December 1974 issue of American Vogue. Bust measures up to 38", shoulder to shoulder 16", outer sleeve 25" and length 33". Skirt has a 27" maximum waist, 34" hips and is 29" long. Flawless, unworn condition with original price and hangtags. sold
