A schooled eye can tell a Geoffrey Beene from 25 feet away. His youthful, sophisticated New York style (despite being a Southern boy) really represents the mid 60s beautifully. Not the offbeat mod or beatnik style of a more fringe culture - but a very Fifth Avenue "apartment overlooking the Park" vibe. A heavy summerweight wool and linen pastel pink two-piece dress with a dropped waist ringed by a skinny black leather shoestring belt that cuts across patch pockets. The skirt has darts at the waist and falls to the top of the calf and the top buttons in back with a row of matching covered pink buttons. Lined in pink silk, this one works unusually well with black accessories - even Marc's mouse flats and a black Birkin bag. Bust measures 36" and length 27". Skirt has a 25" waist, 36" hips and 25" length. Ideally suited for a modern 8 on top and 6 on bottom, both pieces are in excellent condition. $630.00 |
