1970s John Anthony Sheer Metallic Blouse and Skirt

the sexy side of anthony

enoki seal of approval

When you start getting into John Anthony, of his two styles (one very tailored, the other very sexy), you don't choose either/or style, you mix the two. That is what John Anthony's work was all about. He took classic menswear and softened it with sheer fabrics and did things like tossing mohair capes over silk charmeuse wrap dresses and each piece went with the next because he never varied much in color or pattern. If you can go to his atelier today and have a coat made, you know it is going to go with a vintage dress of his without you ever having to remind him that you own his thirty year old collections. Sheer brown silk chiffon with gold stripes has been cut into a blouse with fluttering cap sleeves, like the petals of an iris, with a long slim skirt. There are no exposed fasteners, buttons and zippers save for the attached neck tie. Blouse closes with hidden lingerie hooks behind the placket. Both of these pieces are unlined and while we don't usually advise going around town naked, complicated underthings meant to hide and conceal won't work with this. You have got to do a thong and nothing else or you will ruin the look and feel. A very small sculpted clutch and vintage Halston sandals - this would look killer on both a blonde or someone with dark dark dark skin. Bust measures 36" and length 23". Skirt has a 26" waist and is 44.5" long. Ideally sized for a slim 8, both pieces are in excellent, if not flawless, condition. $210.00
